What is the Fake PNG?
This is a newsletter for the everyday graphic designer. Those of us who love the craft and are motivated to express our creativity. If you’re not already familiar with the term you may be wondering what is a fake PNG? Allow me to explain.
A fake PNG is an image with a gray and white checkered background that misleads designers who are searching for transparent images online. They see one of these images and click only to find out that it indeed has a background. These images started popping up several years ago and have become sort of a meme within the design community.
I found the name fitting for this newsletter because the overall purpose is to provide a level of transparency that others may find helpful.
The Fake PNG’s Goal
The goal of this newsletter is to help readers through the journey of being a designer. This will include tutorials, shared experiences, discussing trends, events and even some humor.
